About AHJA

The Arkansas Hunter Jumper Association is a group of members who enjoy showing hunter and jumper horses, attending clinics, and generally learning about the welfare of the horse.

AHJA's roots trace back to the 1970's English Riding Club in the 1970's, although the modern version of our organization was born in April 2011 when members from the Greater Arkansas Hunter Jumper Association and the Central Arkansas Hunter Jumper Association agreed to merge their two clubs into the now-named Arkansas Hunter Jumper Association. This merger combined the interests of the area's hunter/jumper enthusiasts, riders, owners, trainers, and other members into one endeavor.
AHJA has evolved from a small group of English riders into a large, active hunter/jumper group which holds 5-6 local shows a year, provides excellent clinic experiences, and allows for many opportunities for interaction and volunteerism in the horse community. Many of our members who show locally also three-day event or show hunters and jumpers at rated venues throughout the South. Our current membership also includes two “R” rated USEF licensed judges who hold cards in hunter, jumper, equitation, and hunter breeding, and who actively judge throughout the country.

Fueled by enthusiastic parents, riders and trainers, AHJA horse shows promote a friendly atmosphere. Our show courses are measured and are held to USEF standards. Classes start from x-rails through 3' for hunters, and jumper classes are included as well. Points accumulated from participation in these show classes result in year-end awards being given at a banquet and silent auction, usually held in January at the beginning of the new show year.

If you have interests similar to those described above, whether you have a horse or are just looking to get involved in the horse community in central Arkansas, we invite you to join us!
